On Poetry

I have been writing poems since I was a child. (Even had one published in the kids' section of the local newspaper when I was 8 or so.)

These days, they are practice for me. I like to experiment with the elemental, and with the core challenge that all humans face, that of overcoming ourselves.

As a writer, I enjoy expressing lyrically, within a foundation of rhyme and meter and tempo and word play.

My goal is to have a healthy library of these experiments. (I am motivated by the wisdom that William Shakespeare had 154 published sonnets.)

In my effort to become a better writer, I want to practice conveying sensations and situations within a pleasant economy and structure of words.

It is my hope that I am able to strike a chord with you on occasion.

As with all of my original writing, I reserve copyright and the ability to delete, modify, or use elsewhere. Works within may not be reproduced without my express written permission.
